Special to BTXSentinel.com – On March 6, 2025, Brownsville celebrated Día Internacional de la Mujer: La Mujer de Hoy, a powerful event dedicated to empowering women through meaningful connections and motivational discussions. Held ahead of the traditional March 8th observance, this event honored the achievements of women in our community.

Brownsville City Commissioner District 2 Linda C. Macias kicked off the event with remarks recognizing the vital contributions of women to society. Throughout the day, discussions focused on leadership, resilience, and community-building.

The Voces de Mujer session featured stories from Dr. Judith Arrieta, Cameron County Clerk Sylvia Garza-Perez, artist Luna Beltran, and Miriam Rangel. These incredible women shared their journeys, inspiring attendees with strength and determination.

The event also provided networking opportunities, fostering collaboration and new connections. As Hilda Ledesma, founder of Revival of Cultural Arts, put it:

“It’s beyond networking; it’s about connection. When you get connected, you get inspired. And when you’re inspired, many things happen—from compassion to growth, and knowing that you don’t walk alone.”

This event left attendees motivated, empowered, and united. It celebrated women’s achievements while reinforcing the power of community collaboration.
