From neighborhood playgrounds to scenic hike and bike trails, the City of Brownsville Parks and Recreation Department works year-round to maintain 46 parks spanning more than 1,000 acres of parkland, creating spaces where families gather, athletes compete, and residents stay active.
Brownsville’s park system includes 47 miles of hike and bike trails, four gymnasiums, two public swimming pools, 55 athletic fields, an 18-hole golf course, and at least two dog parks. These amenities serve thousands of residents and visitors each year, supporting everything from youth sports and fitness programs to community events and weekend outings.
Behind the scenes, dedicated Parks and Recreation crews are hard at work every single day. Whether trimming tree branches, mowing grass, repairing park restrooms, inspecting playground equipment, completing electrical repairs, repainting facilities, collecting litter, or replacing lighting, their efforts ensure parks remain safe, clean, and welcoming.
The City encourages residents to help keep parks beautiful by properly disposing of trash and reporting maintenance concerns when they arise.
With 1,000 acres to care for and 46 parks to maintain, the Parks and Recreation Department remains committed to preserving the spaces that make Brownsville a vibrant and active community.
