Brownsville Commission to Hold Final Hearing on Data Center Moratorium

The Brownsville City Commission will hold a special meeting Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 5 p.m. at City Hall, 1001 E. Elizabeth St.

Commissioners are scheduled to consider the second and final reading of an ordinance establishing a Municipal Drainage Utility System. The ordinance includes provisions for drainage service, billing, exemptions, drainage charges and an appeal process.

The Commission will also consider the second and final reading of a separate ordinance establishing a municipal drainage utility fee, including exemptions and credits.

Commissioners will hold the third and final public hearing on a proposed temporary moratorium involving applications for high-intensity data processing facilities within Brownsville and its extraterritorial jurisdiction.

The meeting will also include recognition of Brownsville Crime Stoppers Inc.
