TSC Receives $298,305 Grant for High-Demand Career Programs

Texas Southmost College has been awarded a $298,305 Perkins Leadership Grant to support the development of Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.

Gov. Greg Abbott announced that TSC is one of 13 Texas public two-year postsecondary institutions receiving a share of $3.7 million in Perkins Leadership Grants.

“Texas’ skilled workforce is critical to our state’s economic success,” Abbott said in the announcement. “With these grants, community and technical colleges can develop or redesign programs for in-demand occupations and recruit and retain instructors to train the next generation of the workforce.”

TSC received its $298,305 award for the 2026-27 grant cycle under the Emerging and Current High-Demand Credentials category. TSC is one of five institutions receiving funding in that category.

The state’s Perkins Leadership Grants support colleges in developing CTE programs and recruiting instructors to prepare students for high-skill, high-wage careers that address workforce needs.
