The magic of Christmas is coming back to the streets of Brownsville! One of the city’s most cherished holiday traditions, the 74th Annual Christmas Parade, is set to bring festive cheer, colorful floats, dazzling lights, and holiday excitement to the community on Saturday, December 5, 2026, at 7:00 PM.
Families, friends, and visitors are invited to celebrate the holiday season as the annual parade transforms the streets of Brownsville into a festive gathering place. The longtime tradition brings generations of residents together to celebrate the spirit of Christmas and create lasting holiday memories.
The City of Brownsville will once again sponsor and assist with the annual celebration, helping coordinate preparations to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for parade participants and spectators.
As part of those preparations, the Brownsville City Commission voted during its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, to approve an agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) authorizing temporary street closures for the event.
The closures will affect portions of Elizabeth Street, Palm Boulevard, and Central Boulevard (Business 77), along the designated parade route between West 9th Street and International Boulevard (State Highway 4).
The temporary closures are necessary to accommodate the parade and provide a safe environment for participants, spectators, and motorists traveling near the event.
The City’s Engineering and Public Works Department recommended approval of the agreement with TxDOT as part of the coordination required to host the annual celebration.
