Southmost Boulevard to Close Nov. 7 for Veterans Day Parade

The City of Brownsville is preparing to honor the brave men and women who have served our country as the community gets ready for the 26th Annual Veterans Day Parade.

As part of the event, Southmost Boulevard will be temporarily closed on Saturday, November 7, 2026, beginning at 2:00 PM from International Boulevard to East 30th Street.

The temporary closure will help accommodate the parade and provide a safe environment for participants, spectators, and motorists.

The City of Brownsville will sponsor and assist with the annual celebration, which brings the community together to recognize the service, dedication, and sacrifices of military veterans.

The Brownsville City Commission approved the road closure at its Oct. 6, City Commission Meeting.

To facilitate the closure, the City’s Engineering and Public Works Department has recommended approval of an agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) authorizing the temporary street closure along the parade route.

Motorists traveling through the Southmost area are encouraged to plan ahead, allow additional travel time, and use alternate routes while the closure is in effect.

Residents and visitors attending the parade are also encouraged to exercise caution, follow traffic signs, and comply with directions from public safety personnel.

The annual Veterans Day Parade is an opportunity for the Brownsville community to come together in a show of gratitude and appreciation for those who have worn our nation’s uniform.

The City of Brownsville appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as the community prepares to celebrate and honor its veterans.
