Annual Hands Across the Border Ceremony Set for Feb. 26

The Mr. Amigo Association will host the annual Hands Across the Border ceremony on Thursday, February 26, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Gateway International Bridge.

Brownsville Mayor John Cowen Jr. will join community leaders and residents in this longstanding tradition that symbolizes unity, friendship, and goodwill between the United States and Mexico.

For generations, the Mr. Amigo Association has proudly carried forward this meaningful ceremony, bringing together participants from both sides of the border. The event serves as a powerful reminder of the shared culture, history, and deep-rooted ties that connect Brownsville and Matamoros.

Community members are invited to attend and stand hand in hand across the Gateway International Bridge in celebration of binational cooperation and the enduring spirit of friendship.

As one of the signature events of Charro Days, Hands Across the Border continues to strengthen cross-border relationships and build lasting traditions in the Rio Grande Valley.

Together, the community honors its shared heritage while continuing to build a strong and united future on the border.
