B-Metro Keeps Brownsville on the Move

As the largest city in the Rio Grande Valley, getting around Brownsville matters, and that’s where Brownsville Metro, or B Metro, comes in.

Every day, thousands of residents rely on B Metro to get to work, school, medical appointments, and everything in between. With 13 to 15 fixed routes operating across the city, the transit system connects riders through two main hubs: the La Plaza Multimodal Terminal in downtown and the Northside Transfer Station on Ruben Torres Sr. Boulevard.

Buses run Monday through Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with limited Sunday service on select routes. Each bus is equipped with bike racks, making it easier for riders to combine cycling and public transit as part of their daily commute.

In fact, B Metro serves more than 1.1 million riders each year—a clear sign of how essential public transportation is to the Brownsville community.

The City of Brownsville is also investing in making the rider experience more comfortable and accessible. Recently, 32 new bus shelters were installed throughout the city. These upgraded shelters feature USB charging ports for mobile devices, LED lighting for better visibility at night, and improved sidewalk connections for easier access. Each location also includes ADA-compliant ramps to ensure residents with disabilities can safely and conveniently use the system.

And for residents who qualify, B Metro offers curb-to-curb paratransit service, providing reliable transportation for individuals with disabilities who may need additional assistance.

As Brownsville continues to grow, B Metro remains committed to keeping the community connected, safely, efficiently, and accessibly.
