Season 1, Episode 8 – Brownsville ISD

Brownsville ISD’s upcoming bond election and the future of local schools take center stage in Episode 8 of Brownsville at Large. Commissioner Tino Villarreal sits down with BISD Superintendent Dr. Jesús Chávez to discuss the two propositions voters will consider in November, including districtwide campus renovations, a new Career and Technical Education Center, and a proposed Performing Arts Center. The conversation offers a closer look at what the bond could mean for students, families and the long-term needs of Brownsville ISD.

A major decision for our community with two propositions totaling more than $460 million.

👉 Proposition A (the larger portion) will address much-needed renovations across 39 schools, including new air conditioners, roofs, and windows, as well as the construction of a brand-new Career & Technical Center to better prepare our students for the future workforce.

👉 Proposition B will dedicate $75 million toward building a state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center, giving our students and community a first-class venue to showcase creativity, culture, and talent. Dr. Chávez joined me in the studio to break down what these propositions mean for our students, families, and the future of Brownsville.
