Brownsville ISD held a full-scale active attack training exercise ahead of the upcoming school year, according to ValleyCentral and a Brownsville Police Department social media post.
The exercise brought together the Brownsville Police Department, Brownsville ISD Police and Security Services Department, Cameron County Sheriff’s Office and Cameron County constables, according to the Brownsville PD post.
A photo shared by Brownsville PD showed officers and public safety personnel gathered inside a school gymnasium for what appeared to be a briefing or coordination meeting connected to the training.
The exercise was a training event, not an active emergency. Full-scale drills are commonly used by school districts and law enforcement agencies to practice communication, response roles and coordination before students return to campus.
The training comes as school safety remains a major focus for districts and public safety agencies across Texas. Multiagency exercises allow responding departments to work through emergency procedures together before a real incident occurs.
Brownsville PD’s public post said the department joined BISD police, the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office and Cameron County constables for the effort. ValleyCentral also reported on the full-scale active attack training exercise ahead of the school year.
