The Brownsville Police Department continues to deliver strong public safety performance, maintaining rapid response times while embracing new technology to improve efficiency and expand patrol presence.
Priority One calls, the most urgent and time-sensitive incidents, receive an average response time of under six minutes. In Fiscal Year 2024, the department handled more than 115,000 calls for service, reflecting both the city’s continued growth and the department’s commitment to community safety.
In addition to maintaining quick response times, the department has implemented a new Axon system designed to streamline report writing and documentation. The technology is expected to save officers an average of 15 hours per week in administrative tasks. Those time savings are equivalent to adding approximately 10 full-time officers to patrol operations, enhancing visibility and public safety efforts without increasing staffing levels.
Through innovation, efficiency, and dedicated service, the Brownsville Police Department remains focused on protecting residents and strengthening public safety across the community.
