CBP Officers Seize Cocaine at Brownsville-Matamoros Bridge

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge seized cocaine with an estimated street value of $294,948 during a vehicle inspection earlier this month.

The seizure happened July 7 after a 2016 Nissan driven by a 20-year-old Brownsville woman was referred for a secondary inspection. Officers used a canine unit and nonintrusive inspection equipment during the examination.

Authorities reported finding nine packages containing about 22.09 pounds of alleged cocaine hidden inside the vehicle.

CBP officers seized the narcotics and the vehicle. Homeland Security Investigations special agents opened a criminal investigation.
