Construction work along International Boulevard continues to move forward, with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) reporting the project is now approximately 55% complete. The $21 million reconstruction effort is expected to be completed in September 2026, weather permitting.
This major infrastructure improvement project, which began in 2024, focuses on rebuilding the roadway to better serve the community’s growing transportation needs. Crews are replacing the existing asphalt pavement with durable concrete designed to withstand heavier traffic volumes and provide a longer-lasting driving surface.
In addition to roadway improvements, storm drainage infrastructure along the corridor has been upgraded to better manage heavy rainfall and reduce flooding risks in the area. The project also includes the installation of continuous sidewalks to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility, as well as updated signage and fresh pavement striping to improve overall traffic flow.
According to TxDOT, Phase 1 of the project is currently wrapping up work at the Cleveland and Roosevelt intersection. This section is expected to reopen in late February to early March, helping to alleviate traffic congestion and restore full access to businesses in the area.
The project team continues to navigate challenges along the corridor, including utility conflicts, which have required coordination and adjustments to the construction timeline.
Motorists are encouraged to remain attentive in work zones, follow posted signage, and plan for potential delays as construction progresses.
