SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas — South Padre Island voters will cast ballots in two separate municipal elections this fall, beginning with an Oct. 3 special election for the City Council Place 1 seat.
Early voting for the special election begins Sept. 16 at the South Padre Island Community Center, 4501 Padre Blvd. Voting is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 16-18, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 19 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 21-25. The city also lists extended 8 a.m.-to-7 p.m. hours during the final days of early voting.
The South Padre Island Chamber of Commerce will hold a candidate forum from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sept. 8 at the South Padre Island Convention Center. The event will allow residents to hear from candidates seeking the Place 1 seat.
After the special election, voters will return to the polls for the Nov. 3 general election. The city has created an election webpage with voting information and sample ballots for both contests.
