WASHINGTON — Public school districts across South Texas are set to receive more than $161.3 million in fiscal year 2026 Title I formula funding, according to an announcement Monday from U.S. Rep. Vicente Gonzalez.
The allocations include nearly $29.94 million for Brownsville Independent School District, $9.21 million for Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District, $7.16 million for San Benito Consolidated Independent School District, $4.22 million for Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District and $1.06 million for Point Isabel Independent School District.
Title I is the federal government’s largest K-12 grant program for schools serving substantial numbers of students from low-income families. Districts may use the money to hire and train teachers and support staff, purchase instructional materials and technology, and strengthen student and family engagement programs.
