Deputy City Manager Alan Guard named to Chamber of Commerce board

The City of Brownsville is proud to announce that Deputy City Manager Alan Guard has been appointed to the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for a three-year term. Guard’s nomination was officially approved on Friday, August 22, during the Chamber’s regular board meeting and his term will begin October 1, 2025.

As a member of the Board of Directors, Guard will join other business and community leaders in guiding the Chamber’s efforts to strengthen Brownsville’s economic growth and prosperity. The Chamber’s mission is to advance the business interests of its members through leadership, civic engagement, promotion, support, and advocacy.

“I am honored to serve on the Chamber’s Board of Directors,” Guard said. “This role represents an important opportunity to continue building strong partnerships between the City of Brownsville, our business community, and the residents we serve.”

Esmeralda Villarreal, IOM, President and CEO of the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce, welcomed Guard’s appointment, saying, “Alan Guard brings a wealth of experience in municipal leadership and community engagement.
