BROWNSVILLE, Texas — Downtown Brownsville lit up with holiday cheer Monday night as families gathered for the annual Washington Park Tree Lighting, which delivered a festive evening filled with lights, music and community spirit.
With cool weather and clear skies, the atmosphere was ideal. Guests bundled up in coats and festive reindeer antlers, sipping hot chocolate and enjoying churros as the park came alive with the sights and sounds of the season.
The event featured performances by local schoolchildren who danced to classic Christmas songs, drawing smiles from the crowd and adding to the holiday excitement.
The main highlight of the night was the lighting of four Christmas trees mounted atop the park’s central fountain. As the white lights illuminated the night sky, the display delighted attendees and transformed the park into a glowing holiday centerpiece.
Families also took part in pony rides and train rides, making it a memorable evening for all ages.
The tree lighting kicks off a full calendar of holiday events throughout December, as the City of Brownsville continues to celebrate the season with family-friendly festivities.
