Tino Villarreal, Jr.

City Commissioner, At-Large "A"

Tino Villarreal Jr. serves as the City Commissioner At-Large “A” for the City of Brownsville, Texas. He was elected to the position in 2023 and brings a strong commitment to community leadership, education, and economic development.

A Brownsville native, Commissioner Villarreal attended Saint Joseph Academy and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Brownsville. His career in leadership development included serving as Associate Vice President for Education at the National Hispanic Institute, where he worked to recruit and mentor Latino students for leadership programs across the country.

In addition to his work in education, Villarreal is also a successful restaurateur, contributing to the Rio Grande Valley’s vibrant dining and cultural scene while celebrating the region’s heritage.

Throughout his service, Commissioner Villarreal has remained dedicated to advancing initiatives that enhance quality of life, support economic growth, and promote forward-thinking solutions for the community. He previously served on the boards of the Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC) and the Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB).

Today, he continues to support leadership development as a trustee of the National Hispanic Institute, guided by the belief that Brownsville’s future is bright and that “the best is yet to come.”
