City provides live coverage of the 89th annual Charro Days Grande International Parade

The City of Brownsville’s Communications and Marketing Department delivered live coverage of the 89th Annual Charro Days Grand International Parade on Saturday, February 28, through the ONE CITY News Network, reaching thousands of viewers across the city and beyond.

The broadcast streamed live from Brownsville City Hall in downtown Brownsville, bringing the excitement and tradition of one of the city’s most beloved celebrations directly to the public. Thousands of viewers tuned in to watch the parade live on the City of Brownsville’s social media platforms and on YouTube.

Live coverage began at 11:00 a.m. CST and was streamed on the City’s official YouTube channel at: www.youtube.com/user/CityofBrownsvilleTX

The broadcast will also air at a later date on the City’s Public Education and Government (PEG) TV channel, Spectrum Channel 1300.

The special presentation was hosted by BTV News Anchor Marcy Martinez and Reporter Martha Alicia Lopez of Telemundo, broadcasting from City Hall with a prime view of the parade as it traveled along Elizabeth Street in downtown Brownsville.

The live production highlighted the vibrant traditions, colorful performances, and cultural heritage that make Charro Days one of Brownsville’s most treasured annual events.

Established in 1937 by local business leaders, Charro Days is celebrated each February to honor the shared Mexican heritage of communities on both sides of the Rio Grande.

The festival is named after the “Charro,” the iconic Mexican gentleman cowboy, symbolizing pride, tradition, and unity throughout the region.
