The City of Brownsville has opened a Request for Interest (RFI) process to identify innovative and sustainable proposals for the future use of the former Brownsville Museum of Fine Art (BMFA) building in the heart of the Mitte Cultural District.

Through this initiative, the City invites visionary organizations, creatives, and community partners to propose bold new uses for the space. Ideal proposals could include cultural centers, performance venues, educational institutions, or creative industry hubs—concepts that support the ongoing revitalization efforts of Downtown Brownsville and promote economic and cultural vibrancy.

The RFI process begins on March 28, 2025 at 8:00 AM and all submissions must be received by April 28, 2025 at 4:00 PM. Interested parties are encouraged to present ideas that reflect community values, celebrate Brownsville’s heritage, and contribute to a thriving cultural corridor.

This milestone was made possible by the joint efforts of the City Manager’s Office, the Planning and redevelopment team, the Legal Department, and the Procurement Department.
