In response to recent flooding and pursuant to the emergency powers and authorities granted to the Cameron County Judge by §418.018 and in furtherance and support of §418.1085 and §418.002(1)-(3) of the Texas Government Code, Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. has announced building permit fees for flood-related home repair permit applications would be waived for a period of 14 days.

“A great amount of our residents are focusing their efforts on recovering from flood damage right now, and waiving permit fees for flood-related home repairs is a positive action we can take to alleviate the stress and reduce costs to our residents who were affected by the unexpected flood waters,” stated County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr.

An extension of the disaster declaration issued on March 28, 2025, and availability of this waiver to be extended for a longer duration will be requested at the next Commissioners’ Court meeting on April 8, 2025.
