Voters in Brownsville headed to the polls on Saturday, June 7, to cast their ballots in two City Commission runoff elections that determined who will represent the At-Large “B” and District 4 seats.
The runoff races were triggered after no candidate secured a majority vote during the May 4 general election. In the At-Large “B” contest, Nurith Galonsky Pizana defeated Roy De los Santos, while Pedro Cardenas claimed victory over Daisy Zamora in the District 4 race.
Unofficial results show Galonsky Pizana received 3,279 votes to De Los Santos’ 1,920, while Cardenas received 1,240 votes to Zamora’s 1,087.
The newly elected commissioners will soon be sworn in and begin their terms, joining the Brownsville City Commission in guiding policy decisions and representing residents across the city.
Saturday’s runoff marked the final phase of the 2024 municipal election cycle, reaffirming the city’s commitment to representative government and civic engagement.
