BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Brownsville Public Utilities Board Senior Key Accounts Representative Mirta Vasquez has been selected to serve on a statewide advisory council for Texas residential energy-efficiency rebate programs.
Vasquez will provide input as Texas develops its HOMES and HEAR rebate programs, which are intended to support qualifying residential energy-saving home improvements, electric appliances and related upgrades.
The programs are authorized through the Inflation Reduction Act and are being developed by the State Energy Conservation Office. Texas has been allocated $690 million for the programs, according to BPUB.
Rebates are not yet available. BPUB said the state is gathering public feedback while the programs are developed and awaits federal approval before setting a launch date.
The State Energy Conservation Office plans a virtual community event at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 20 to discuss anticipated program benefits, the expected launch timeline and public feedback opportunities.
