Following the appointment of Alan Guard as Brownsville's new city manager, the City has announced several leadership promotions designed to strengthen its executive management team and support the community's continued growth. Former Assistant City Managers Felix Sauceda and Doroteo Garcia have both been promoted to Deputy City Manager, expanding their leadership roles and responsibilities across City departments. Sauceda has served in a dual capacity as both Assistant City Manager and Chief of Police, providing leadership in public safety while helping oversee city operations.
With his transition to Deputy City Manager, he will focus full-time on executive leadership and strategic initiatives. The City also announced the promotion of Marina Zolezzi, formerly Chief of Staff, to Interim Assistant City Manager. In her new role, Zolezzi will help oversee departmental operations, coordinate cross-functional initiatives, and support the City's executive leadership team. Officials said the leadership changes are intended to strengthen collaboration across departments while creating additional opportunities for cross-training, succession planning, and professional development within the organization.
The expanded leadership structure is expected to enhance the City's ability to manage major capital projects, support continued economic growth, and deliver high-quality services to Brownsville residents. With Sauceda assuming his new responsibilities as Deputy City Manager, the City will also begin recruiting its next Chief of Police. City officials say the search will focus on identifying a leader who will continue the department's commitment to public safety, community engagement, and professional excellence.
