BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The Brownsville City Commission approved a collective bargaining agreement between the city and the Brownsville Police Officers’ Association covering fiscal years 2026 through 2029.
The agreement will remain in effect through Sept. 30, 2029. Association members approved it Sept. 11, and the City Commission authorized it Sept. 22.
Classified ranks will receive 4% base-pay adjustments in fiscal years 2026-27, 2027-28 and 2028-29. Entry-level and newly TCOLE-licensed officers will receive an increased first-year adjustment, followed by increases in the two following fiscal years.
The agreement also updates specialty and incentive pay, field training officer compensation, night differential, hiring and promotional procedures, leadership development, equipment and other employment provisions. Thirteen articles were amended and 37 were unchanged.
