BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The Brownsville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has approved an updated slate of nominees for four board vacancies for fiscal year 2026-27.
The vacancies include three director positions carrying three-year terms from October 2026 through September 2029 and one position carrying a one-year term through September 2027.
Under the chamber’s bylaws, additional candidates may be nominated through a petition signed by at least 5% of the chamber’s regular membership. Based on 469 regular members, a valid petition requires 23 signatures.
Petitions must be submitted to the nominating committee at esmy@brownsvillechamber.com by Thursday, Aug. 20. If no valid petition is filed, nominations will close and the slate will be declared elected at the board’s Aug. 28 meeting.
If the chamber receives a valid petition, an election committee will prepare a ballot for eligible members.
