Nurith Galonsky

City Commissioner, At-Large "B"

Nurith Galonsky Pizaña serves as the City Commissioner for District 1 in the City of Brownsville, Texas. Born and raised in Brownsville, she has dedicated her career to public service, advocacy, and improving the quality of life for residents across the community.

Commissioner Galonsky Pizaña brings a strong academic and professional background to her role. She earned a dual bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Spanish Literature from Stanford University, a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin, and a law degree from Southern Methodist University. She currently practices law and applies her legal and business expertise to address complex issues facing the city and advocate effectively for District 1 residents.

During her time on the City Commission, she has focused on promoting equitable investment and ensuring District 1 receives fair access to resources and development opportunities. Her leadership has supported improvements in infrastructure, neighborhood revitalization, and community-focused initiatives that strengthen the district as a vibrant and livable part of Brownsville.

Commissioner Galonsky Pizaña has also prioritized key investments in broadband expansion, drainage improvements, road upgrades, and support for nonprofit organizations addressing homelessness and migrant-related challenges in the region.

Rooted in family and community, she remains committed to thoughtful leadership and collaborative solutions that help build a stronger and more inclusive Brownsville for future generations.
