BROWNSVILLE, Texas – City Manager Alan Guard outlined Brownsville’s fiscal year 2027 priorities during a Friday with the City presentation, pointing to public safety, roads, drainage, infrastructure and quality-of-life investments.
Guard said the proposed .9 million General Fund budget directs about half of its spending to public safety. He also discussed a million Public Safety Complex projected for substantial completion in fall 2028, as well as road work on Coffee Road, Dennett Road, Old Alice Road, Old Highway 77 and Wildrose Lane.
Residents who took part in a community survey identified roads and maintenance as the leading concern, followed by traffic and transportation, infrastructure and public safety, the city said.
