The Brownsville Fire Department has officially opened registration for its upcoming entry-level firefighter/paramedic exam, inviting dedicated and service-minded individuals to apply. The exam is scheduled for Friday, September 26, 2025, at 9:00 AM at the Brownsville Event Center, located at 1 Event Center and Paredes Line Road.

This exam is the first step in joining one of the Rio Grande Valley’s most respected fire departments. Those who pass will be placed on an eligibility list valid for one year.

To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Be at least 18 years old and not older than 36 during the exam.

Possess a high school diploma or GED.

Be able to read and write in the English language.

Pass physical, mental, and background investigations.

Be eligible for future certification by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection Personal Standards and Education.

The deadline to register for the exam is Friday, September 12, 2025, by 5:00 PM. No late registrations will be accepted.
