Brownsville Gears Up for the 89th Charro Days Fiesta

In just a few weeks, the streets of downtown Brownsville will burst with color, music, and tradition as the city prepares to celebrate the 89th Charro Days Fiesta, one of the community’s most beloved and iconic celebrations.

From lively parades and traditional Mexican folklórico dances to marching bands and vibrant floats, Charro Days draws thousands of visitors to Brownsville each year, transforming the border city into a showcase of culture, heritage, and hometown pride.

The celebration kicks off Saturday, February 21, at noon with Baile del Sol at Charro Days Headquarters, located at 455 E. Elizabeth Street, setting the festive tone for more than a week of nonstop excitement.

The parades begin on Thursday at 2:30 p.m., when the Brownsville Independent School District Children’s Parade fills downtown streets with youthful energy, creativity, and school spirit.

On Friday, February 27, at 7:00 p.m., the popular Illuminated Parade lights up the same route with dazzling floats and nighttime flair.

The grand finale arrives on Saturday, February 28, starting at 12:30 p.m., with the Color Guard Parade, immediately followed by the internationally renowned Grande International Parade, the largest and most anticipated parade of the celebration.

Adding to the excitement, the Charro Days Carnival, hosted by 20th Century Rides, will run Thursday, February 26 through Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the TSC ITEC Center, offering classic rides, games, and family-friendly fun.

Meanwhile, Washington Park will once again host the crowd-favorite Sombrero Festival, taking place February 26–28, featuring food vendors, games, and live entertainment.

The Big Tent stage will showcase high-energy performances by The Spazmatics, 24K Magic – A Bruno Mars Tribute, and Metal Shop Texas, while the Main Stage will feature legendary acts Conjunto Primavera and Edwin Luna y La Trakalosa de Monterrey.

With music, culture, parades, carnival rides, and unforgettable performances, the 89th Charro Days Fiesta promises days of celebration and memories for residents and visitors alike, continuing a proud Brownsville tradition that honors its rich binational heritage.
