Brownsville Invited to Raise the Woof for Shelter Pets in Need

The Brownsville Animal Regulation and Care Center (BARCC) is inviting residents to come together for a day of fun, compassion, and community support at its upcoming Raise the Woof Event on Saturday, June 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Animal Shelter, located at 416 FM 511. The family-friendly event will feature pet adoptions, community engagement activities, and opportunities to support animals in need while learning more about responsible pet ownership. Visitors will have the chance to meet adoptable pets, spend time with shelter animals, and discover ways they can help make a difference in the lives of homeless pets.

Guests can also enjoy free BBQ plates provided by The Flying Pig, available while supplies last, and participate in exciting raffles throughout the day for a chance to win great prizes. One of the event's featured services will be free microchipping for pets with proof of a current rabies vaccination. The service comes at an especially important time as the Fourth of July holiday approaches. Fireworks celebrations often cause fear and anxiety in pets, leading many animals to flee their homes, yards, or owners to escape the loud noises. Microchipping provides a permanent form of identification that significantly increases the likelihood that lost pets will be reunited with their families.

BARCC encourages pet owners to take advantage of this free service to help keep their pets safe during the holiday season and throughout the year. In addition to adoptions and pet-safety resources, BARCC will accept donations to help provide food, medical care, enrichment, and other essential services for animals awaiting their forever homes. Every contribution, regardless of size, helps support the shelter's lifesaving mission.
