The City of Brownsville’s Department of Health, Wellness, and Animal Services, in collaboration with Boca Chica Animal Hospital, Companion Hospital, Brownsville Veterinary Hospital, and the Brownsville Independent School District (BISD), is set to launch the 2025 Rabies Clinic to ensure the health and safety of pets and the community.

The clinic will take place at various BISD campuses, starting Thursday, March 27, 2025, and running through Saturday, May 31, 2025. Pet owners will have the opportunity to get their pets vaccinated against rabies for just $12 per pet. Additional services may be available at varying prices. Only cash will be accepted.

To receive the vaccine, pets must be at least 12 weeks old. Dogs must be on a leash, and cats must be in a pet carrier for safety.

Rabies is a deadly virus that affects the brain and nervous system, and once symptoms appear, there is no cure. It can spread to humans through bites or scratches from infected animals. By vaccinating pets, the community helps prevent the spread of rabies, ensuring a safer environment for both animals and people.

This initiative aims to make vaccinations accessible and affordable while raising awareness about the importance of responsible pet ownership.

For more details on clinic locations and schedules, residents are encouraged to contact the Department of Health, Wellness, and Animal Services.
