Brownsville police officer rescues kitten found on expressway

A routine patrol took a heartwarming turn when Brownsville Police Department officers responded to an unusual call: a tiny kitten spotted alone on the expressway, dangerously close to moving traffic.

Officer Brandon Saenz quickly arrived, joined by Animal Control Officer Timothy Lomuscio. Together, they worked swiftly and carefully to rescue the kitten, bringing her to safety and preventing a potential traffic hazard.

Now out of harm’s way, the kitten was handed over to the Brownsville Animal Regulation and Care Center (BTX BARCC), where she’s receiving the care and attention she needs. This little life was saved thanks to the fast response and teamwork of our officers and animal services.

In a touching moment, BARCC honored Officer Saenz by naming the rescued kitten Tabatha, in memory of his first cat.

Tabatha is now safe and loved. We’re proud of Officer Saenz and Officer Lomuscio for their compassion and quick thinking, and proud to support a community where every life matters.
