When severe storms brought over 20 inches of rain to the Harlingen area in just 48 hours, causing widespread flooding, Brownsville emergency crews quickly stepped in to help.
The Brownsville Fire Department’s Water Rescue Operations Team answered over 70 emergency calls across Cameron County, conducting water rescues and ensuring residents’ safety. Additionally, the Department of Engineering and Public Works deployed staff and heavy equipment to assist with flood relief efforts in affected neighborhoods.
Brownsville’s response highlights the importance of collaboration in times of crisis. By working together, cities across the Rio Grande Valley can better protect and support one another during emergencies.
