BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Brownsville is gearing up for another major economic milestone with the upcoming arrival of a global European company set to invest over $200 million and create more than 100 jobs in the region.

Gilberto Salinas, CEO of the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation, revealed the news during an appearance on KURV’s The Valley’s Morning News, describing the project as a “game changer” that follows in the footsteps of SpaceX and the LNG developments at the Port of Brownsville.

“This company is a key supplier to both SpaceX and the LNG sector,” Salinas said. “They’ll be serving South Texas, San Antonio, northern Mexico, and exporting to Latin America. It’s a huge win for the region.”

While full details are expected to be announced next week, Salinas hinted the project may be tied to the tech or semiconductor industries—positioning Brownsville as a potential future hub for advanced manufacturing.

The news comes amid rapid job growth in the area. According to Salinas, Brownsville has added between 5,000 and 6,000 jobs in the past year, with significant contributions from SpaceX, LNG plants, and local manufacturing companies.

To support continued growth, city leaders are moving forward with infrastructure improvements, including expanding the road to Boca Chica Beach and breaking ground on a 700-acre industrial park on Brownsville’s north side.

“This new project is the next step in transforming Brownsville into a regional economic powerhouse,” Salinas said. “We planned for this years ago, and now it’s all coming together.”
