As the City of Brownsville prepares to celebrate the 89th Annual Charro Days Fiesta, the Department of Engineering and Public Works Traffic Division is advising residents and visitors of temporary street closures to safely accommodate scheduled parades and festivities.
The closures will support parade routes, performances, and large public gatherings associated with one of Brownsville’s longest-running and most cherished traditions.

• 12:00 p.m. – West Elizabeth Street (between Central Boulevard and Palm Boulevard)
• 12:30 p.m. – East Elizabeth Street (between Palm Boulevard and International Boulevard)

Illuminated Parade
• 4:30 p.m. – West Elizabeth Street (between Central Boulevard and Palm Boulevard)
• 5:30 p.m. – East Elizabeth Street (between Palm Boulevard and International Boulevard)
• 5:30 p.m. – International Boulevard (southbound) between E. Adams Street and E. Elizabeth Street

• 10:00 a.m. – West Elizabeth Street (between Central Boulevard and Palm Boulevard)

City officials encourage motorists to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use alternate routes during parade times to minimize delays.
Please note that the streets and alleys around Washington Park will be closed from Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 6:00 PM until March 2, 2026, at 6:00 PM for the annual Sombrero Festival.
This closure is in partnership with Sombrero Festival Ltd., the City of Brownsville and the Brownsville Police Department, aimed at ensuring public safety during the festivities.
Beginning at 6:00 PM on February 22, 2026, the following streets and alleys around the Washington Park area will be closed between East Monroe and East Washington:

East 8th Street
East 9th Street
