Every Drop Counts: Save More Water and Money This Summer

Summer is a great time to look for simple ways to save water at home, and the Brownsville Public Utility Board’s Go-Green Rebate Program can help you get started. Residential water customers can receive up to a $100 bill credit when they purchase and install a WaterSense-certified high-efficiency toilet. The promotion runs through September 30, 2026. Replacing an older toilet can make a bigger difference than many people realize. Some older models use up to six gallons of water with every flush, while WaterSense-certified toilets use 1.28 gallons or less. Over time, that can lead to meaningful water savings without changing your daily routine.

Here is what you need to know to qualify: You must be an active BPUB water services customer, and the installation address must match the address on your account. The toilet must be WaterSense certified, so confirm with the seller before purchasing. Your account will be credited up to $100.00 or the cost of the toilet, whichever is less, per unit installed. Up to three high-efficiency toilets per address are eligible. A copy of your paid receipt or sales invoice is required with your application. Applying is easy! You can submit your application online or drop it off at our Administration Building located at 1425 Robinhood Drive.

Once all required documentation is received, credits are typically applied within three to six weeks. If you have been thinking about upgrading a bathroom, now is a great opportunity to save water and take advantage of this rebate! For questions, contact BPUB [email protected] .
