Brownsville continues to make significant progress on infrastructure improvements as part of its $215 million Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), with multiple major roadway projects currently under construction or entering new phases over the next two years.
These projects are designed to improve mobility, enhance public safety, upgrade underground utilities, and support long-term growth across the city.
On Old Highway 77, work on the sanitary sewer system is approximately 50% complete. The project is expected to be completed by March 2027, bringing critical utility upgrades to the corridor.
Along Russell Road, crews have completed approximately 85% of sewer and water line installations, marking a major milestone toward improving essential infrastructure in the area.
Construction on Dennet Road is scheduled to begin in March 2026, while Old Alice Road is moving closer to the construction phase. Design work for Old Alice Road is currently 90% complete, with construction anticipated to begin by Fall 2026.
Progress is also underway on Coffeeport Road, where the Phase 1 construction contract has been approved. Meanwhile, Phase 2 is actively under design, ensuring continued improvements along this key roadway.
Another project nearing completion is Wild Rose Lane, where road construction is expected to be finished by March 2026. In addition to roadway improvements, the project will include trail connectivity to nearby parks, supporting walkability and recreational access for residents.
City officials said that these projects reflect Brownsville’s ongoing commitment to investing in infrastructure that supports economic development, enhances quality of life, and prepares the city for future growth.
