The City of Brownsville’s Parks and Recreation Department is bringing summer fun directly to neighborhoods across the city with the return of its highly popular Mobile Recreation Unit (MRU). Starting June 6, 2025, families are invited to enjoy an exciting series of free, family-friendly events held at local parks every Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
The MRU program is designed to bring recreational activities, games, inflatables, splash features, and more to parks throughout Brownsville, providing a fun and engaging space for residents of all ages. With something for everyone—from toddlers to teens to adults—this initiative helps foster community spirit while encouraging outdoor play and healthy lifestyles.

- June 6 – Monte Bella Trails Park | 2525 W. Alton Gloor Blvd.
- July 11 – Gonzalez Park | 34 Tony Gonzalez Dr.
- July 18 – Joe & Tony Oliveira Park | 104 El Paso Rd.
- August 1 – Morningside Park | 1207 S. Central Ave.
- August 8 – Cabler Park | 550 Burnett Rd.
Attendees can look forward to inflatable games, sports activities, water play, and plenty of space to unwind and connect with neighbors.
All events are free and open to the public. Families are encouraged to bring water, sunscreen, and their sense of adventure.
