Visitors to Charles Martin Cabler Park, 550 Burnett Road, will now find a brand-new playground ready to welcome families, thanks to recent improvements made by the City of Brownsville Parks and Recreation Department.
Located in District 2, the park is one of the most active green spaces in the area. The new playground expands the park’s existing amenities and offers additional room for children to play, explore, and enjoy the outdoors.
District 2 Commissioner Linda C. Macias said she is proud to see the park continue to grow for local families. “Charlie Cabler Park is the largest park we have in District 2, and it’s very important that we bring in as many amenities as possible to improve the quality of life for our citizens,” Macias said.
The Parks and Recreation team shared that the new playground is just one of several enhancements underway. Parks and Recreation Director Sean De Palma said the department is proud to deliver more recreational options for families. “We’re excited that we added another playground for citizens to enjoy,” he said.
Charlie Cabler, whose family donated the land to the city, expressed his appreciation for how the park continues to develop. “It’s a wonderful feeling that the park is being utilized, that there’s upgrades being done… We reflect back on my parents and their dream about what the park should be like, and it’s come to fruition,” Cabler said.
Charles Martin Cabler Park remains a peaceful and family-friendly destination for walking, relaxing, and spending time outdoors. And even more improvements are on the way. Over the next year, the park will welcome a new Fitness Court, a splash pad planned for summer 2026, restroom upgrades, public Wi-Fi access, and future safety enhancements.
Community members are encouraged to stop by, enjoy the new playground, and see the continued progress happening across one of Brownsville’s most cherished parks.
