BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The Port of Brownsville will mark its 90th anniversary with a public community celebration from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Port of Brownsville Business Park, 1000 Foust Road.
The free event is planned to include exhibits, live music, food and a Kids Port area, along with opportunities for the public to learn about the port’s history and current operations.
Free bus and boat tours will be available by reservation on a first-come, first-served basis. The port said tour reservations will close when available seats are filled, and participants should check in at least 30 minutes before their scheduled departure. Tours may be canceled because of weather or other unforeseen conditions.
Because the port is a secured area, adults attending the event must present a valid government-issued photo ID. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
The Port of Brownsville said it began as an agricultural port serving citrus and cotton exporters and has grown into a regional trade, manufacturing and logistics hub.
