Residents traveling near Springmart and Sunrise Boulevards, just off Expressway 83, may have noticed ongoing roadwork in recent days. The City of Brownsville’s Department of Engineering and Public Works (EPW) is currently preparing the area for a full milling and overlay operation, a vital step in extending the lifespan and safety of the roadway.
As part of the preparation process, EPW crews have been actively replacing damaged curbs and gutters throughout the area. On Thursday, crews are scheduled to pour new concrete, marking a key milestone in the project.
Once the concrete repairs have been completed and cured, the streets will be milled and overlaid to provide a smoother, safer driving experience for residents and visitors alike.
The City urges all motorists to observe traffic signs and drive cautiously in the work zone. Crews are working hard to complete the improvements efficiently and safely.
