BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Downtown Brownsville will take on an international theme for the next Second Friday celebration, with organizers planning a “Passport to Downtown” event inspired by the FIFA World Cup.
The free event is scheduled for Friday, July 10, beginning at 7 p.m. Activities are planned across Market Square, 8th Street and the area of 9th Street at Washington.
According to the city, the event will include live entertainment, local vendors, food, family-friendly activities, DJs and food trucks. Market Square will host artists, vendors and interactive activities, while 8th Street will feature live music and additional vendors.
City organizers said the international theme is meant to highlight Brownsville’s diversity while drawing residents and visitors downtown for shopping, dining and entertainment. Participating businesses are expected to remain open into the evening, with downtown nightlife continuing after the main event.
