YouthBuild Brownsville is transforming lives by helping young adults ages 16 to 24 earn their GED while gaining hands-on training and industry-recognized certifications in skilled trades.
The program combines academic instruction with real-world workforce experience, equipping students with practical job skills, increased confidence, and clear pathways to long-term career success. Participants not only work toward completing their education but also build the foundation needed to enter high-demand industries.
Building on that success, YouthBuild Brownsville will launch an independent, tuition-free high school later this year. The new campus will serve students seeking an alternative pathway to graduation by blending rigorous academics with hands-on career training in a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Program leaders say the goal is to reduce dropout rates by offering an education model that feels relevant and connected to students’ futures. Students can enroll as early as ninth grade, gaining early exposure to workforce skills and career exploration while completing their high school requirements.
YouthBuild is currently recruiting students for its inaugural class, which is scheduled to begin later this year. With enrollment closing soon, families are encouraged to contact the organization directly to learn more about eligibility and student support services.
For many current participants, YouthBuild has already made a measurable difference. Students report that the program’s structure, mentorship, and hands-on approach have helped them stay motivated and focused on achieving their goals.
Through expanded access to education and workforce development, YouthBuild Brownsville continues to strengthen the community, one student at a time.
