Brownsville voters will decide whether to approve proposed City Charter amendments in the Nov. 3, 2026, election.
The proposals address the offices of city secretary and city auditor, the Audit and Oversight Committee, campaign finance and ethics provisions, citizen initiative and referendum procedures, merit hiring, City Commission compensation and outdated Charter language.
The City Commission’s action places the propositions before voters; it does not adopt the amendments. The commission also reviewed recreation survey results involving more than 2,000 residents. BCIC has earmarked $300,000 for preliminary planning and conceptual design work for a future recreation center.
