The City of Brownsville Department of Engineering and Public Works Traffic Division is advising motorists of upcoming intersection closures along SH 4 (International Boulevard) as the Texas Department of Transportation continues roadway construction in the area. TxDOT will implement full closures at several cross streets along International Boulevard between Grant Street and Taft Street, including Burton Drive, to allow crews to conduct Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) paving operations. The closures are scheduled as follows: Cleveland Street and Taft Street: Monday, Aug.
17 at 8:00 AM through Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 5:00 PM. Grant Street and Roosevelt Street: Wednesday, Aug.
19 at 8:00 AM through Thursday, Aug. 20 at 5:00 PM Burton Drive: Friday, Aug. 21 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Morton Street: Monday, Aug.
24 at 8:00 AM through Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 5:00 PM Full closures will be implemented at the affected cross streets, and appropriate detour routes will be provided. To help maintain access to the surrounding area and reduce traffic impacts, TxDOT will not close consecutive cross streets at the same time.
Motorists traveling along International Boulevard and nearby streets should anticipate possible delays, use caution when approaching the construction zone, and follow all posted traffic control devices and detour signs.
