WASHINGTON – A Brownsville delegation met with federal agencies and decision-makers this week to discuss local water, transportation, space-commerce, technology and infrastructure priorities.
City officials said the trip included meetings intended to pursue resources, strengthen partnerships and discuss the city’s growth-related needs. The delegation also joined the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce for Capitol Hill meetings focused on trade, border and customs modernization, workforce development and education.
Mayor John Cowen Jr. said the city’s relationships in Washington can help Brownsville participate in decisions that affect the community. The City said the meetings are part of broader efforts to build federal support for infrastructure and economic-development priorities.
