BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The Brownsville City Commission approved annual Consumer Price Index rate adjustments for contractors that provide recycling and solid-waste-related services to the city.
The applicable rate will increase from $5.49 to $5.68, a 19-cent change, effective Oct. 1, 2026.
During its Sept. 22 meeting, the commission approved adjustments of up to 3.53% for Redfish Recycling and up to 4.70% for Republic Services. The items were presented by the city Internal Services Department as part of the consent agenda.
CPI adjustments are included in contracts to account for cost changes over time based on inflation-related economic measures.
