Across Brownsville, young athletes use soccer fields, trails, courts and other recreational spaces to stay active, build confidence and pursue the sports they love.
For many participants, recreation is about more than a final score. Practices can offer opportunities to learn teamwork and discipline, develop skills, build friendships and work toward a goal. Public spaces also give families places to exercise, spend time together, connect with neighbors and enjoy the outdoors.
Brownsville Parks & Recreation maintains 46 parks encompassing more than 1,000 acres, along with trails, athletic fields, pools, a golf course and community facilities.
The city’s Parks, Recreation & Healthy Living Master Plan provides a long-term framework for the future of Brownsville’s parks and recreation system, considering how public spaces can serve a growing and changing community.
Through capital improvement planning, the city is continuing to invest in projects intended to strengthen neighborhoods, support quality of life and prepare for future needs.
