Brownsville Approves eBridge Center Financing Package

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The Brownsville City Commission has approved a financing package supporting the eBridge Center for Business and Commercialization, the city’s downtown entrepreneurship and technology hub.

The action provides a framework for continued investment in the center and its programs for entrepreneurs, startups and small businesses. The eBridge Center was developed through a partnership involving the Brownsville Community Improvement Corp., the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and community organizations.

The facility provides coworking areas, training rooms, meeting space, business counseling and programs intended to help companies move from an early idea to commercial operation.

City and economic-development leaders view the center as part of a broader strategy to create higher-wage jobs, support locally owned companies and connect entrepreneurs with university research and regional industry.

Additional financing documents will govern how funds are spent and repaid as the center expands programming and measures its economic impact.
